The Role

With over 2500 fellows placed everywhere from FB, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Uber to startups we are frequently expanding our part-time mentor team.

As a part time industry mentor or specialist, you will be responsible for fellow success by helping them develop their technical interviewing skills through a variety of online sessions. You will work cross-functionally with our career mentors to provide up-to-date, relevant information to help our fellows not only pass interviews but gain confidence in their abilities!

Essential Duties
  • Provide 1-on-1 mentorship on your own schedule (minimum 10 hour/wk commitment)
  • Mentors will need to commit a few hours per week preparing materials, leveraging existing Pathrise curriculum content and responding to fellow’s emails
  • Work alongside other Pathrise Mentors and learn how to best meet the needs and learning styles of your fellows
  • Guide fellows through both technical and behavioral aspects of the job search, such as technical interview prep, discussing technical requirements of their background, and more
  • Facilitate a thoughtful and inclusive environment for all fellows to learn and grow in their technical skills to achieve great results and land the job of their dreams!

Qualifications
  • You are excited at the chance to shape the skills, minds, and career trajectories of Pathrise fellows
  • You have a good understanding of the current requirements for landing a job in our of our industry track areas and have participated in hiring committees (i.e. conducted technical or behavioral interviews for candidates)
  • You have at least 3 years of industry experience with one of our industry tracks (prior teaching experience a plus)
  • You have fluency in most of the relevant technologies and subject matter of one of our industry tracks. For example, a Data Science Mentor should have advanced understanding of: Probability, Statistics; Python (other scripting languages such as R a plus); AWS, EMR, MapReduce and/or Hadoop; Manipulation of large data sets; Data visualization techniques; Databases; Algorithms; Machine learning

Compensation
Mentors and Specialists are paid on a per-session basis with rates ranging from $21 - 32.50 for a 30 min session, contingent on our qualification tiers.

Hiring Process
A member of our team will contact you if your experience matches our needs! The hiring process is typically a 30 minute Google meet with the hiring manager, but may include an additional 30 minute phone screen with a recruiter if volume is high.
